Where Is Justice for Ferdous Alam? A Call to the Government and Hindu Citizens to Defend the Innocent

How many more peaceful lives must be lost before we open our eyes?
How long will silence and indifference continue to shield hatred?

Ferdous Alam, a tailor by profession and a newly married man, lived a life of simplicity in Haryana, India. He harmed no one. He engaged in no conflict. His only "identity"? He was a Muslim.

Last Saturday, Ferdous was returning from a friend’s house when a man named Shishu Lal began harassing him. For what? For wearing a cap — a simple symbol of his faith. When Ferdous, without protest, picked up his cap after it was thrown away, Shishu Lal did it again. Then, as Ferdous bent down, Shishu Lal kicked him so hard in the head that he lost consciousness — and later his life.

Where is the outrage?
Where is the justice?
Where is the government’s voice when one of its citizens is murdered in cold blood, not for a crime, but for a creed?

To our government:
Will you treat this as just another "incident," or will you recognize it for what it is — a hate crime? Will there be a proper investigation, or will it be buried under bureaucracy and silence? Will the family of Ferdous receive justice, or only condolences?

To our Hindu brothers and sisters:
Will you let such acts define your faith? Will you speak up for your Muslim neighbors who eat with you, work with you, grow with you — or will silence make you complicit? Will you allow extremists to hijack your religion of peace and tolerance?

India was built on unity in diversity. If a man like Ferdous Alam is not safe in our streets, then who is? If being Muslim makes one a target, what does that say about our society?

We ask, with heavy hearts and hopeful eyes:
Will you stand up before it's too late?
Will justice speak louder than hate?
